Vermont Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance (VT FMLI)

The Hartford is the selected carrier to provide paid family and medical leave insurance (FMLI) for Vermont. The program provides wage replacement for qualifying family and medical events such as bonding with a new child, caring for a family member with a serious health condition, military exigency, and recovery from a serious health condition.

What it offers

Provides 60% wage replacement for at least 6 weeks in a 12-month period. Max weekly benefit (State Employees 2026): $2,128.85. Max weekly benefit (Individuals): $2,031.92. Premium Rates: State covers 100% of premium for government employees. Private employers receive custom quotes. Individual pool premiums are determined via quoting for the 7/1/2025 phase.
