Florida Community Care for the Elderly (CCE)

The Florida Community Care for the Elderly (CCE) program, administered by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA) through Area Agencies on Aging and Lead Agencies, provides community-based services to help functionally impaired older adults (60+) live in the least restrictive environment suitable to their needs. Services can support family caregivers through in-home and community assistance including homemaker services, personal care, home-delivered meals, transportation, adult day care, respite, and case management.

What it offers

CCE delivers in-home and community services that help functionally impaired older adults live in the least restrictive environment suitable to their needs. Eligible clients may receive adult daycare or adult day health care, case management, chore or homemaker services, companionship, emergency alert response, home-delivered meals, home health aide, home nursing, personal care, respite, shopping assistance, transportation, and other community-based services. Eligibility requires the care recipient to be 60+ and functionally impaired, with primary consideration for older adults referred by Adult Protective Services after abuse, neglect, or exploitation. Services are accessed through local Aging and Disability Resource Centers or the Elder Helpline: 1-800-963-5337.

Questions that decide eligibility

GiveCare prepares the questions; the program makes the decision. Bring these to the call or the application:

  1. 01

Does the person receiving care live in Florida?

Residency is usually the first thing a program checks.

  2. 02

Does your relationship to the person — spouse, parent, child, sibling, grandparent, other relative, or non relative — count for this program?

  3. 03

Is the person receiving care in the covered age range (60–null)?

  4. 04

What counts as a qualifying disability or level of care need, and what documentation shows it?

  5. 05

Does the VA disability rating meet the program’s minimum (our record lists null%)?

  6. 06

Do the work hours meet the minimum (our record lists null hours)?

  7. 07

Is there a caregiver-specific department, coordinator, or support line? Ask for it by name.

Many agencies have one that isn’t advertised on the website.

  8. 08

What documents do you need from us to start an application?

  9. 09

Is there a waitlist right now, and how long is it?
