What it offers
Connecticut Aging and Disability Services says Aging and Disability Resource Centers connect older adults, people with disabilities, and caregivers in Connecticut to needed services, including benefit screening, care-option advice, and care transitions, and can be reached at 1-800-994-9422. Community Choices describes Connecticut's ADRCs as an information hub linking older adults, people with disabilities, and caregivers to services and supports through benefit screening, options counseling, care transitions, and transportation, with regional centers across the state. United Way of Connecticut 211 caregiver resources explain that caregivers can use 211 and Area Agencies on Aging for information, referrals, insurance counseling, specialized programs, respite, adult day programs, family caregiver subsidies, kinship caregiver resources, paid leave information, senior rides, and disability-related transportation. Connecticut Aging and Disability Services provides state-level aging and disability services and resource coordination for older adults and people with disabilities.
Questions that decide eligibility
GiveCare prepares the questions; the program makes the decision. Bring these to the call or the application:
- 01
Does the person receiving care live in Connecticut?
Residency is usually the first thing a program checks.
- 02
Does your relationship to the person — spouse, parent, child, sibling, grandparent, other relative, or non relative — count for this program?
- 03
Does the VA disability rating meet the program’s minimum (our record lists null%)?
- 04
Do the work hours meet the minimum (our record lists null hours)?
- 05
Is there a caregiver-specific department, coordinator, or support line? Ask for it by name.
Many agencies have one that isn’t advertised on the website.
- 06
What documents do you need from us to start an application?
- 07
Is there a waitlist right now, and how long is it?
