Alabama Personal Choices (Self-Directed Care)

Personal Choices is a self-directed home and community-based services option for Alabama Medicaid waiver participants. It allows seniors and individuals with disabilities to manage their own care budgets, hire and train their own caregivers (including family members), and purchase care-related equipment or services.

What it offers

Participants receive a monthly budget allowance based on their individualized Plan of Care. Funds can be used to pay for personal care services, hire caregivers, or save for care-related equipment. A financial counselor provides assistance with budget management.
